The Opportunity:

As a Swimming Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering engaging and safe swimming instruction to students. This is an opportunity to support students’ physical development and foster confidence in the water, while working in a school that values both musical and academic achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, and monitor the swimming programme to meet the needs of students of all ages and abilities.
  • Prepare and deliver schemes of work tailored to the age, abilities, and interests of students.
  • Conduct regular emergency drills and ensure all safety protocols are followed at all times.
  • Respond swiftly and effectively to any emergencies, including initiating rescues from the deepest part of the pool.
  • Administer first aid and raise alarms in the event of an accident or incident.
  • Prevent unsafe activities and maintain a secure environment for all pool users.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning experience.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Level 2 Teaching Qualification (e.g., Swim England/ASA Level 2 or STA Level 2 Certificate).
  • Recognised Lifeguard/Rescue Qualification (e.g., RLSS National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches - NRASTC or NPLQ).
  • Enhanced DBS Check and registration for the update service.

Preferred

  • First Aid certification.
  • Experience teaching children with disabilities or teaching non-swimmers/advanced swimmers.
