Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach English Literature and Language to students across all age groups.
  • Deliver engaging and innovative lessons that promote academic excellence and a love of learning.
  • Contribute to the development of the English department through collaboration and shared planning.
  • Act as a Form Tutor, supporting students’ personal and academic growth.
  • Participate in the co-curricular life of the school, including extracurricular activities and events.
  • Support the school’s commitment to pastoral care and student well-being.
  • Stay up to date with developments in English education and incorporate best practices into teaching.
  • Prepare and assess students in line with the school’s academic standards and expectations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A relevant degree, preferably in English Literature or a related field.
  • Strong teaching experience, ideally in a school setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and inspire students of all abilities.
  • Commitment to pastoral care and student welfare.
  • Willingness to take on the role of a Form Tutor.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in the independent or maintained sector.
  • Familiarity with the UK curriculum and examination systems.
  • Experience with co-curricular activities and extracurricular leadership.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • A passion for literature, drama, and the arts.
