The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Teacher of English (Maternity Cover) to join a dynamic team and support the delivery of high-quality education to students aged 13–19. This role offers the chance to contribute to a pioneering institution with a strong emphasis on technical and academic learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach GCSE English Language and English Literature to students aged 13–19.
  • Deliver GCSE English resit courses and A-Level English Literature at Post-16.
  • Work closely with the Curriculum Director for English and Communications.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop a centre of excellence in Computing, Health Science, and Sport Science.
  • Support the school’s mission to provide a careers-focused education with clear pathways into employment.
  • Engage students in a stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative teaching practices in a technology-rich environment.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in teaching English.
  • Experience working with students aged 13–19.
  • Ability to deliver both GCSE and A-Level English courses.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to working in a collaborative and employer-led environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in a University Technical College or similar setting.
  • Background in teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Experience in developing and implementing innovative teaching strategies.
  • Knowledge of health sciences, computing, or sport science.
