The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a passionate and experienced Teacher of Psychology and Sociology to join its dynamic team from September 2026. This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality education and contribute to the development of these subjects within a strong Humanities Faculty.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and effective lessons in Psychology and Sociology
  • Teach across Key Stages 4 and 5, preparing students for public examinations
  • Design and implement assessments, including mock examinations and feedback
  • Ensure all students are appropriately challenged and make strong progress
  • Contribute to schemes of work and curriculum development
  • Assess, record and report on student progress accurately
  • Maintain strong subject knowledge, particularly in relation to exam requirements
  • Use technology effectively to support teaching and learning

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree in Psychology or Sociology and a recognised teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching Key Stages 4 and/or 5 examination classes
  • Strong understanding of assessment, exam technique and marking criteria
  • The ability to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively
  • Excellent classroom management and high expectations of students

Preferred

  • Experience with Pearson Edexcel GCSE (9–1) Psychology or Cambridge CAIE AS and A Level Psychology and/or Sociology
  • Confidence in using technology to enhance teaching and organisation
  • A passion for the subject and the ability to inspire learners
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
