The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant within the Additionally Resourced Provision, you will support students with Complex Communication and Interaction needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Condition. You will play a vital role in helping students achieve their full potential through personalized support, social development, and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with Complex Communication and Interaction needs in a mainstream school setting.
  • Provide practical assistance to facilitate learning, social development, and emotional well-being.
  • Work collaboratively with specialist teachers and support staff to deliver effective educational outcomes.
  • Assist in developing and implementing classroom strategies that promote student engagement and progress.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues to ensure a consistent and supportive learning environment.
  • Remain calm and adaptable in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages student confidence and participation.
  • Support the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum tailored to individual needs.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in mainstream or special school support roles, particularly with students with communication and interaction needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students with special educational needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Condition.
  • Experience in developing effective classroom practice with teaching staff.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to change.
  • Education to GCSE level 4/C or equivalent in English and Maths, or equivalent experience.

Preferred

  • Experience in working closely with families of students with special educational needs.
  • Previous experience in a school setting with an Additionally Resourced Provision.
  • Knowledge of EHCPs and support strategies for students with complex needs.
