The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and stimulating learning environment for children. You will support pupils in their academic and personal development, particularly those with Special Educational Needs, while contributing to the delivery of Maths and Literacy activities. This is a permanent, part-time role with a start date in September 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils in their learning and development, including those with Special Educational Needs.
  • Assist in planning and delivering activities in Maths and Literacy across group and individual settings.
  • Monitor pupil progress and adapt learning activities in consultation with teachers or SENCo.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of pupil achievement plans.
  • Encourage engagement in learning and promote self-esteem, independence, and high expectations.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and teaching staff.
  • Act as a role model and respond to individual needs in a sensitive and professional manner.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure a consistent and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Teaching Assistant or related field.
  • GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade A–C or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working in a school setting.
  • Confidence in supporting the delivery of KS1 and KS2 English and Maths.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and teaching staff.
  • Strong organisational skills and intermediate IT skills (including Microsoft Office).
  • A calm and professional approach to working with children and adults in a variety of situations.

Preferred

  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs.
  • Experience in a school environment with a focus on early years or primary education.
  • Knowledge of the Primary Stage Curriculum and its standards and requirements.
  • Ongoing professional development and a commitment to continuous learning.
