The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to vulnerable students, helping them engage with learning and make progress in core subjects and vocational interests. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver consistent support to help students focus, engage, and complete tasks
- Support students in assessments and learning tools such as GL Assessment and Accelerated Reader
- Build positive relationships through active listening, encouragement, and clear boundaries
- Share observations and provide feedback on student progress to parents and staff
- Work with therapists to implement strategies aligned with EHCP outcomes
- Assist in planning and preparing project work using community resources
- Ensure adherence to safeguarding procedures and health and safety standards at all times
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar setting or support role, such as SEN, SEMH, or residential childcare
- Strong communication skills and emotional resilience
- Ability to maintain a professional and consistent approach with students
- Physical ability to meet the demands of the role, including potential for physical interventions
Preferred
- Experience with trauma-informed practices and behaviour support plans
- Willingness to complete training in safe physical intervention techniques
- Experience in working with vulnerable or complex needs students
