The Opportunity:

The Head of Maintenance and Facilities will oversee the upkeep of a large and historic campus, ensuring all buildings and grounds are maintained to the highest standards. This role is critical in supporting the school’s mission to deliver a safe, compliant, and inspiring learning environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a team of maintenance and facilities staff, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of all school buildings, infrastructure, and grounds.
  • Coordinate and manage contractor relationships for all project works and maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintain a safety-first approach to all estate activities.
  • Deliver project works on time and within budget, with a focus on cost management and value for money.
  • Drive innovation and sustainability initiatives as part of the school’s ESG goals.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to support the strategic vision of the school.
  • Ensure that all facilities are fit for purpose and contribute to the delivery of an outstanding educational experience.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior role within property maintenance or facilities management.
  • Experience managing a team and leading projects from conception to completion.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to manage budgets and deliver projects within financial constraints.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in driving sustainability and ESG initiatives.
  • Familiarity with modern facilities management systems and software.
  • Experience working in an educational or institutional setting.
  • Strong understanding of building maintenance and infrastructure management.
