The Opportunity:
The Head of Maintenance and Facilities will oversee the upkeep of a large and historic campus, ensuring all buildings and grounds are maintained to the highest standards. This role is critical in supporting the school’s mission to deliver a safe, compliant, and inspiring learning environment for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead a team of maintenance and facilities staff, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of all school buildings, infrastructure, and grounds.
- Coordinate and manage contractor relationships for all project works and maintenance tasks.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintain a safety-first approach to all estate activities.
- Deliver project works on time and within budget, with a focus on cost management and value for money.
- Drive innovation and sustainability initiatives as part of the school’s ESG goals.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to support the strategic vision of the school.
- Ensure that all facilities are fit for purpose and contribute to the delivery of an outstanding educational experience.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a senior role within property maintenance or facilities management.
- Experience managing a team and leading projects from conception to completion.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to manage budgets and deliver projects within financial constraints.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience in driving sustainability and ESG initiatives.
- Familiarity with modern facilities management systems and software.
- Experience working in an educational or institutional setting.
- Strong understanding of building maintenance and infrastructure management.
