Summary:

Teaching Assistant role with a 4-day working week at a specialist school in Lancashire.

The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support students with SEMH and/or autism, helping them build confidence, independence, and academic progress. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs and/or autism in 1:1 and small-group settings
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging learning activities
  • Lead targeted interventions and small group sessions
  • Provide emotional, social, and practical support to pupils
  • Contribute to creating a safe and structured learning environment
  • Support outdoor learning and personal development initiatives
  • Promote positive behaviour and model appropriate social interactions

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs and/or autism
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team and support classroom activities
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic and supportive environment

Preferred

  • Experience in a specialist education setting
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices
  • Experience with behaviour support strategies
  • Willingness to engage in professional development and training
