Summary:

Teaching Assistant - SEN role with a school dedicated to supporting students with Autism Spectrum Condition.

The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant - SEN, you will play a vital role in supporting students aged 11–16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in a nurturing and inclusive environment. You will help students access the national curriculum and develop the skills needed for meaningful vocational qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safeguard and promote pupil welfare in a supportive environment
  • Support learning and behaviour in class to enhance student engagement
  • Build positive relationships with students to help them feel safe and confident
  • Encourage independence and personal development in line with individual needs
  • Assist with lesson planning and resource preparation to support effective teaching
  • Contribute to the overall aims of the school when required
  • Implement behaviour support strategies, including Team Teach physical intervention if needed
  • Complete accurate and timely reports to support student progress and school operations

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with SEN students (paid or voluntary)
  • GCSE English & Maths (Grade 4/C or above)
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Knowledge of SEN, SEMH, or ASD

Preferred

  • Level 2+ qualification in Teaching & Learning Support
  • Willingness to engage in behaviour support strategies
  • Positive, creative mindset to meet individual needs
