The Opportunity:

Join a supportive and dynamic team as a Trainee PE Teacher, working towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). This one-year role provides hands-on teaching experience, mentorship, and professional development in a well-resourced PE department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and innovative PE lessons to 16- to 19-year-old students.
  • Work closely with a mentor to develop teaching skills and subject knowledge.
  • Participate in weekly training sessions at the St Charles Borromeo Teaching Hub.
  • Teach on a reduced timetable four days per week, with one day dedicated to professional development.
  • Support the school’s commitment to inclusivity and student well-being.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the school’s ‘passport to independence’ programme.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and training opportunities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the PE curriculum and student outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • UK GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • UK Degree or equivalent with a valid ENIC statement of comparability.
  • Commitment to training as an active and innovative teacher.
  • Passion for PE and student development.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or working with young people.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Familiarity with Catholic values and ethos.
  • Previous involvement in extracurricular activities or sports.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary at Unqualified Teachers Pay Scale Point 1: £28,342, inclusive of Inner London Weighting.
