The Opportunity:

Join a dynamic Maths department as a Trainee Physics Teacher, working towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) over one year. This role offers a unique blend of practical teaching experience and structured training, supported by a mentor and a well-resourced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging Physics lessons to a diverse student body on a four-day weekly timetable.
  • Participate in one day of training per week, including General Practice and Subject-specific sessions.
  • Work closely with a mentor to develop teaching skills and receive 1.5 hours of weekly support.
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives and collaborate with colleagues to enhance student outcomes.
  • Complete all required training modules to achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) by the end of the year.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and academic support in line with the school’s Catholic values.
  • Support the school’s commitment to inclusion and student welfare.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and reflective practice.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • UK GCSE in English or equivalent qualification with ENIC statement.
  • UK GCSE in Maths or equivalent qualification with ENIC statement.
  • UK Degree or equivalent qualification with ENIC statement.
  • Commitment to train as an active and innovative teacher of Physics.
  • Passion for Physics and a desire to inspire students.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or education-related roles.
  • Familiarity with inclusive education practices.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or similar.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
