The Opportunity:

As Vice Principal (Pastoral), you will play a pivotal role in shaping a positive school culture and ensuring student safety and wellbeing. This is an opportunity for an experienced leader to make a meaningful impact on student outcomes and pastoral systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead safeguarding as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring compliance and best practice across all areas.
  • Oversee the pastoral team, including Assistant Principals, and manage behaviour, attendance, and student support strategies.
  • Use data tools (Arbor/Power BI) to monitor trends, improve outcomes, and drive targeted interventions.
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement planning, staff development, and leadership initiatives.
  • Strengthen relationships with parents, carers, external agencies, and local schools.
  • Support organisational systems such as timetabling, resource planning, and statutory processes.
  • Maintain a visible presence as an exemplary classroom practitioner and leader.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with substantial senior leadership experience in pastoral and safeguarding.
  • Deep knowledge of statutory safeguarding requirements and high-quality practice.
  • Proven ability to improve behaviour, attendance, culture, and student wellbeing at a whole-school level.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and inspire teams.
  • Excellent data analysis skills to support decision-making and targeted support.

Preferred

  • Experience with behaviour management strategies and pastoral interventions.
  • Background in leading large pastoral teams and multi-agency collaboration.
  • Experience in school improvement planning and self-evaluation processes.
