The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Vice Principal (Teaching & Learning), you will play a pivotal role in leading and supporting the school's teaching and learning strategy. You will be responsible for driving improvements in student outcomes, curriculum development, and staff professional growth. This is a key leadership role with a strong focus on enhancing the quality of education across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the curriculum in a designated year group.
  • Support and supervise the professional growth of teaching staff through mentoring, training, and coaching.
  • Oversee and monitor student progress to ensure consistent academic achievement and improvement.
  • Work closely with the Principal and Vice Principals to implement the Academy Development Plan.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in teaching and learning practices.
  • Manage and lead a specific strand of the Academy’s strategic development plan.
  • Ensure alignment with the school’s mission and values in all aspects of teaching and learning.
  • Promote and support the use of technology in the classroom to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within education, with a focus on teaching and learning.
  • Deep knowledge of evidence-based pedagogical approaches, including Cognitive Load Theory and formative assessment.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve student outcomes and lead professional development for teaching staff.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to manage complex projects and teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to hold difficult conversations with clarity and kindness.

Preferred

  • Experience in an International Baccalaureate (IB) or similar curriculum setting.
  • Familiarity with the IB Learner Profile and its application in teaching and learning.
  • Experience in leading curriculum development and student progress monitoring.
  • Knowledge of AI-driven learning technologies and their integration into teaching practice.
