The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Weekend Caretaker to contribute to the maintenance and upkeep of a school’s buildings, grounds, and facilities. This role plays a key part in ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the cleanliness, security, and presentation of school buildings and grounds.
  • Carry out general maintenance tasks including painting, carpentry, and plumbing.
  • Assist with building repairs and ensure all facilities are in good working order.
  • Support the Premises Manager in managing day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards across the site.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and students to address any concerns or issues.
  • Undertake duties during weekends and respond to any emergencies or urgent maintenance needs.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities provided by the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Valid enhanced DBS certificate or eligibility to obtain one.
  • General maintenance skills including painting, carpentry, and plumbing.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Flexibility and a practical approach to work.

Preferred

  • Experience in a similar caretaking or maintenance role.
  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
