The Opportunity:
As a Lunchtime Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with special educational needs during lunchtimes. You will assist with feeding, personal care, and help students enjoy their leisure time in a safe and engaging environment. This is a vital position that directly contributes to the well-being and development of students preparing for adulthood.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with feeding and personal care during lunchtimes
- Encourage and assist students in engaging in leisure activities
- Promote independence and self-care skills in a supportive environment
- Ensure a safe and positive atmosphere during meal times
- Work closely with teaching staff to support the individual needs of students
- Monitor and report on student behavior and well-being
- Assist with the management of lunchtime routines and schedules
- Provide a caring and respectful approach to all students
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with young adults with special educational needs
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
- Ability to support feeding and personal care tasks
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility and willingness to work during lunchtimes
Preferred
- Previous experience in a specialist education setting
- Knowledge of supporting students with autism or sensory needs
- Experience with life skills development
- Understanding of inclusive education practices
