The Opportunity:

As a Lunchtime Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with special educational needs during lunchtimes. You will assist with feeding, personal care, and help students enjoy their leisure time in a safe and engaging environment. This is a vital position that directly contributes to the well-being and development of students preparing for adulthood.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with feeding and personal care during lunchtimes
  • Encourage and assist students in engaging in leisure activities
  • Promote independence and self-care skills in a supportive environment
  • Ensure a safe and positive atmosphere during meal times
  • Work closely with teaching staff to support the individual needs of students
  • Monitor and report on student behavior and well-being
  • Assist with the management of lunchtime routines and schedules
  • Provide a caring and respectful approach to all students

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with young adults with special educational needs
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
  • Ability to support feeding and personal care tasks
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to work during lunchtimes

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a specialist education setting
  • Knowledge of supporting students with autism or sensory needs
  • Experience with life skills development
  • Understanding of inclusive education practices
