The Opportunity:

As a Whole School Counsellor, you will provide essential social and emotional support to students across all age groups, working closely with families, teachers, and external agencies. This role is ideal for a passionate professional looking to make a meaningful impact in an inclusive and supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students, families, and staff through individual and group counselling sessions
  • Collaborate with well-being leaders, teachers, and support teams to develop and implement pastoral care programmes
  • Deliver professional learning and parent workshops to enhance emotional well-being and social skills
  • Work with external agencies to provide comprehensive support for students with additional educational needs
  • Contribute to the development of school-wide policies and initiatives focused on safeguarding and student well-being
  • Provide guidance and support for students for whom English is an additional language
  • Participate in co-curricular activities and contribute to the school’s pastoral care programme
  • Ensure all interventions are aligned with the school’s commitment to ‘success for all’

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Graduate or postgraduate training in a counselling or therapy modality suitable for schools
  • Registration with a professional body such as BACP, UKCP, or BPS
  • Professional accreditation hours completed
  • Experience working in an international school setting with third culture communities
  • Experience working with children for whom English is an additional language
  • Experience working with students with additional educational needs

Preferred

  • Experience in leading professional learning and parent workshops
  • Experience in developing and implementing pastoral care and well-being programmes
  • Familiarity with international curricula such as IGCSE, IB, or National Curriculum for England
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with teachers, families, and external agencies
