The Opportunity:
A Year 3 Teacher (Maternity Cover) is sought to join a dynamic and supportive team. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young students while working in a school that values innovation, discipline, and a strong sense of community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach to an exemplary standard throughout the Pre Prep
- Develop and maintain schemes of work that are challenging and appropriately differentiated
- Maintain order, discipline, and a calm environment in class
- Integrate ICT into teaching and learning
- Develop cross-curricular links with other subjects and PSHCE/SMSCD
- Organise and attend curricular-enriching trips
- Prepare and maintain termly wall displays
- Mark pupils’ class work and prep in line with school policy
- Prepare thoroughly for ISI inspections
- Keep accurate records of pupil effort and achievement
- Write reports following stated protocols
- Liaise with Heads of Department and the SMT as required
- Attend staff meetings and adhere to school procedures
- Manage departmental budgets
- Set and maintain clear expectations of behaviour
- Follow and support the school’s policies on rewards, sanctions, anti-bullying, safeguarding, and child protection
- Report all pastoral concerns to the Deputy Head (Pastoral)
- Complete risk assessments for health and safety
- Prepare for and respond to health and safety inspections
- Welcome prospective parents and visitors into lessons
- Maintain professional dress and appearance
- Communicate professionally with colleagues, parents, and pupils
- Support the school’s mission, aims, and Catholic ethos
- Organise an annual overseas trip or offer an extra-curricular activity
- Participate in appraisal meetings and lesson evaluations
- Attend INSET training and other required professional development
- Cover staff duties and accompany games as required
- Attend weekly whole-school Mass
- Follow all school policies, protocols, procedures, and regulations
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with relevant experience in primary education
- Strong classroom management and organisational skills
- Ability to develop and deliver high-quality, differentiated schemes of work
- Experience integrating ICT into teaching
- Commitment to pastoral care and safeguarding
- Familiarity with school reporting and record-keeping procedures
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and leadership
Preferred
- Experience with cross-curricular planning and PSHCE/SMSCD
- Experience in preparing for ISI inspections
- Experience in managing departmental budgets
- Experience in organising and leading extra-curricular activities
- Experience with pastoral support and behaviour management
- Familiarity with Catholic ethos and values
