The Opportunity:

A Year 3 Teacher (Maternity Cover) is sought to join a dynamic and supportive team. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young students while working in a school that values innovation, discipline, and a strong sense of community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach to an exemplary standard throughout the Pre Prep
  • Develop and maintain schemes of work that are challenging and appropriately differentiated
  • Maintain order, discipline, and a calm environment in class
  • Integrate ICT into teaching and learning
  • Develop cross-curricular links with other subjects and PSHCE/SMSCD
  • Organise and attend curricular-enriching trips
  • Prepare and maintain termly wall displays
  • Mark pupils’ class work and prep in line with school policy
  • Prepare thoroughly for ISI inspections
  • Keep accurate records of pupil effort and achievement
  • Write reports following stated protocols
  • Liaise with Heads of Department and the SMT as required
  • Attend staff meetings and adhere to school procedures
  • Manage departmental budgets
  • Set and maintain clear expectations of behaviour
  • Follow and support the school’s policies on rewards, sanctions, anti-bullying, safeguarding, and child protection
  • Report all pastoral concerns to the Deputy Head (Pastoral)
  • Complete risk assessments for health and safety
  • Prepare for and respond to health and safety inspections
  • Welcome prospective parents and visitors into lessons
  • Maintain professional dress and appearance
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues, parents, and pupils
  • Support the school’s mission, aims, and Catholic ethos
  • Organise an annual overseas trip or offer an extra-curricular activity
  • Participate in appraisal meetings and lesson evaluations
  • Attend INSET training and other required professional development
  • Cover staff duties and accompany games as required
  • Attend weekly whole-school Mass
  • Follow all school policies, protocols, procedures, and regulations

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in primary education
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills
  • Ability to develop and deliver high-quality, differentiated schemes of work
  • Experience integrating ICT into teaching
  • Commitment to pastoral care and safeguarding
  • Familiarity with school reporting and record-keeping procedures
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and leadership

Preferred

  • Experience with cross-curricular planning and PSHCE/SMSCD
  • Experience in preparing for ISI inspections
  • Experience in managing departmental budgets
  • Experience in organising and leading extra-curricular activities
  • Experience with pastoral support and behaviour management
