The Opportunity:

As a Year 6 Foundation Subjects Leader, you will play a key role in shaping the curriculum and driving academic excellence in Foundation Subjects. This is a unique opportunity to lead, inspire, and influence teaching and learning across Year 6, while contributing to the broader curriculum leadership in KS2.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of Foundation Subjects in Year 6, including Geography, History, Art, DT, Computing, and Music
  • Ensure curriculum progression and alignment with whole-school priorities
  • Collaborate with KS2 leadership to develop cross-curricular links and enrichment opportunities
  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons that meet the needs of all learners
  • Use assessment data to track progress and raise attainment
  • Model excellent classroom practice and share strategies with colleagues
  • Support and mentor colleagues in KS2, promoting consistency in teaching standards
  • Contribute to curriculum development meetings and whole-school initiatives
  • Promote creativity, critical thinking, and independent learning in Foundation Subjects
  • Lead or support enrichment activities, trips, and whole-school events

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong KS2 teaching experience, ideally in Year 5 or Year 6
  • Proven track record of high pupil progress and outcomes
  • Experience teaching or leading Foundation Subjects
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Preferred

  • Previous curriculum or subject leadership experience
  • Experience in an international or UK curriculum school
  • Experience preparing pupils for transition to secondary education
