1:1 Learning Support Assistant opportunity at a progressive school in Richmond.

About the School:

A school located on Richmond Hill in south west London, it provides a broad and balanced academic and co-curricular education for boys aged three to thirteen, with a co-educational Nursery. It is committed to fostering a lifelong love of learning and instilling British and community values.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to join our Learning Development Team and support a pupil in their academic and personal growth. This role is crucial in helping students make the most of the educational opportunities available at the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support a pupil in their academic and personal development through tailored learning strategies.
  • Work closely with teachers and senior staff to ensure the pupil's progress is monitored and celebrated.
  • Deliver one-to-one tuition in a variety of subjects, adapting teaching methods to meet individual needs.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of learning activities that align with the school’s curriculum and values.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and communicate regularly with parents and guardians.
  • Encourage and nurture the pupil’s confidence, independence, and enthusiasm for learning.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the school’s vision and values.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Learning Development Team to provide consistent and effective support.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in education or learning support, ideally working with children with additional needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection, with the willingness to undergo necessary checks and training.
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently, often on a one-to-one basis.
  • A minimum of a Level 2 qualification in education or a related field.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school setting, particularly in a 1:1 support role.
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and differentiated instruction.
  • Experience with educational software and digital learning tools.
  • A degree or higher-level qualification in education, child development, or a related field.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly rate of £16.63.
  • Free school lunches during term time.
  • Full-time, term-time only contract with a fixed term until 7 July 2027.
