1:1 Learning Support Assistant job opportunity with a focus on supporting children with additional needs.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to provide individualised support for a child in Year 4 with an EHCP. This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping children with additional needs thrive in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support a child in Year 4 with an EHCP, ensuring they access learning effectively.
  • Build a strong, trusting relationship with the child to promote emotional and academic growth.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to follow guidance and support the child's needs.
  • Use initiative to respond sensitively to the child’s individual requirements.
  • Assist in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment within the classroom.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure consistent support and progress.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the child’s specific learning needs.
  • Provide regular updates to the teaching team on the child’s development and progress.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience supporting children with additional needs, including speech and language delay, autism, or sensory needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassion, patience, and a genuine passion for working with children.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with students.
  • Commitment to supporting children’s academic and emotional development.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education practices.
  • Familiarity with EHCPs and special educational needs support frameworks.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic learning environment.
