Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic oversight and guidance on financial matters.
  • Support the Governing Council in fulfilling its responsibilities for the school’s governance.
  • Contribute to the development and review of the school’s financial strategy and policies.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head and Senior Leadership Team to ensure the school’s financial sustainability.
  • Assist in the evaluation of the school’s performance and long-term planning.
  • Participate in meetings and discussions that influence the school’s direction and priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to financial governance.
  • Engage with the wider school community and contribute to decision-making processes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified accountant with 5+ years of post-qualification experience.
  • Strong understanding of financial governance and strategic decision-making.
  • Commitment to education and the values of the school.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and contribute constructively to a team.
  • Experience in a governance or trustee role is advantageous.

Preferred

  • Experience in the education sector or non-profit governance.
  • Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities in independent school management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
