The Opportunity:

As an Alternative Provision Mentor, you will support students with social, emotional, and mental health needs in The Bridge, Alternative Provision. You will work closely with the Bridge Leader and collaborate with pupils, staff, and families to promote positive behaviour and help students overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with SEMH and behavioural difficulties through individualised interventions and guidance.
  • Collaborate with staff, parents, and carers to develop and implement strategies for positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Work alongside the Bridge Leader to provide intensive support for students requiring additional intervention.
  • Promote independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion among pupils.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and development regularly.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of school-wide behaviour and support policies.
  • Provide a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for students to thrive.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance support strategies and approaches.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working in a school or educational setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective support to students with challenging behaviour.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Experience in working with students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Preferred

  • Experience in alternative provision or specialist support settings.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and emotional well-being support.
  • Experience in working with young people in a mentoring or pastoral role.
  • Understanding of the school’s values and vision, including 'Success for All'.
