As a Sociology Teacher, you will play a key role in shaping student understanding and enthusiasm for the subject. Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Sociology and PSHE at KS3, KS4, and KS5 to a range of abilities.
  • Create and maintain a disciplined and stimulating learning environment that promotes student engagement and motivation.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Contribute to the creation of teaching resources and examination materials.
  • Attend departmental meetings and contribute to policy development and curriculum planning.
  • Support students through form tutoring and other pastoral duties.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with external examination requirements.
  • Uphold and exceed the Teachers’ Standards in all aspects of teaching and professional conduct.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher status and relevant subject knowledge.
  • Experience teaching Sociology and PSHE at all key stages.
  • Ability to manage a classroom effectively and promote student learning.
  • Strong understanding of examination specifications and assessment practices.
  • Commitment to student well-being and pastoral care.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and resource creation.
  • Familiarity with the Bishop Fraser Trust and multi-academy trust structures.
  • Experience with CPD and leadership development programs.
  • Knowledge of inclusion and diversity initiatives in education.
