The Opportunity:
We are seeking an Apprentice Gardener to join a dynamic team and contribute to maintaining the school’s beautiful grounds. This role is ideal for someone with a strong work ethic and a passion for horticulture, offering valuable on-the-job training and the opportunity to develop practical skills in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enhance the school’s gardens and outdoor spaces to the highest standard.
- Assist with the planning and execution of landscaping projects throughout the year.
- Ensure the upkeep of all garden features, including lawns, flower beds, and pathways.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the grounds maintenance team to complete tasks efficiently.
- Follow health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance and gardening activities.
- Assist with the preparation of outdoor spaces for school events and functions.
- Undertake general maintenance tasks as required.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A genuine interest in horticulture and a willingness to learn.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
- A hardworking, dependable, and professional attitude.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
Preferred
- Previous experience in gardening or grounds maintenance, even on a voluntary basis.
- Knowledge of plant species and gardening techniques.
- Experience with the use of gardening tools and equipment.
- Flexibility to work outside and in all weather conditions.
