The Opportunity:

Join a school that values innovation and excellence as an Art and Design Teacher Trainee. This role offers a one-year initial teacher training course with a pathway to permanent employment. The trainee will be supported by an experienced mentor and will contribute to the school’s co-curricular life while developing their teaching skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in developing their artistic and design skills through engaging and inspiring lessons
  • Deliver a structured and progressive Art and Design curriculum tailored to student needs
  • Work closely with an experienced mentor to gain practical classroom experience and guidance
  • Participate in the school’s bespoke teacher training development programme
  • Contribute to the co-curricular life of the school through extracurricular activities and events
  • Reflect on teaching practice and continuously improve pedagogical approaches
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the quality of teaching and learning across the department
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievement

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A relevant graduate degree with a strong academic background in Art and Design
  • Commitment to completing a one-year unsalaried initial teacher training course
  • Willingness to fund course fees as part of the unsalaried training route
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students

Preferred

  • Previous experience in teaching or working with young people
  • Experience with curriculum development and lesson planning
  • Familiarity with digital tools and technologies used in Art and Design education
  • Passion for co-curricular and extracurricular engagement
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
