The Opportunity:

As a PE Teacher Trainee, you will embark on a one-year initial teacher training course with the goal of becoming a qualified teacher. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates with a strong degree to develop their teaching skills and make a meaningful impact on students' lives through physical education and co-curricular activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of high-quality physical education lessons to students aged 11-16
  • Work closely with an experienced mentor to develop teaching practice and classroom management skills
  • Take on a small timetable that increases in hours over the course of the year
  • Contribute to the co-curricular life of the school through extracurricular activities and events
  • Engage in continuous professional development through the school’s bespoke initial teacher training programme
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and achievement
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support the school’s vision of excellence for all students
  • Prepare and deliver lessons that align with the school’s curriculum and teaching standards

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A strong undergraduate degree from a recognised institution
  • Commitment to completing a one-year initial teacher training course
  • Willingness to self-fund the course fees
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for physical education and inspiring students

Preferred

  • Previous experience in teaching or working with young people
  • Experience with co-curricular activities or sports coaching
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in physical education
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or similar qualifications
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach to learning and development
