Summary:

Assistant Chaplain needed at a thriving Catholic Sixth Form College. Support the Lay Chaplain and students in a faith-based environment.

The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Chaplain, you will support the Lay Chaplain in nurturing the spiritual, academic, and social growth of students aged 16-19 within a Catholic Sixth Form environment. This is a key role in promoting the school’s mission and ensuring a strong chaplaincy presence across the college community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Lay Chaplain in providing spiritual development and support opportunities for all members of the college community.
  • Coordinate chaplaincy activities, including retreats, pilgrimages, and student-led liturgy.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, staff, and local parishes.
  • Promote the Catholic ethos through prayer, reflection, and liturgical events.
  • Liaise with Catholic partner schools and support the chaplaincy team in planning and delivering assemblies and events.
  • Ensure all chaplaincy activities align with the school’s mission and the CSI framework.
  • Provide administrative support for chaplaincy meetings, prayer spaces, and communication with stakeholders.
  • Act as an ambassador for the school and uphold its values in all interactions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A practising Catholic with a strong commitment to the Catholic faith.
  • Experience working with young people aged 11-18.
  • Proactive and engaging approach to student and staff engagement.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and safeguarding.
  • Ability to support the Catholic ethos and promote spiritual growth.

Preferred

  • Experience in chaplaincy or pastoral work within an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of Catholic liturgy and sacramental life.
  • Experience in event planning and coordination.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Familiarity with the Catholic Inspection (CSI) framework.
