Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning in Philosophy, Theology and Ethics, aligned with the school’s mission and values.
  • Develop and implement engaging schemes of work and teaching resources.
  • Monitor and track student progress, ensuring all learners reach their full potential.
  • Support the development of students’ personal and social skills through active participation and discussion.
  • Encourage student engagement with the wider community through social action and charity initiatives.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of departmental activities and events.
  • Participate in staff development and appraisal processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of students in line with the school’s policies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Religious Education or related subjects.
  • Strong knowledge of Philosophy, Theology and Ethics at post-16 level.
  • Commitment to the Catholic ethos and values of the school.
  • Experience in developing and delivering engaging learning resources.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to departmental planning.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching post-16 students.
  • Background in Catholic education or faith-based teaching.
  • Familiarity with the Stella Maris Leadership Award and its objectives.
  • Experience in organizing and leading student-led initiatives and events.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students and parents.
