The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Curriculum Leader in Science, you will play a pivotal role in driving high-quality teaching and learning across the school. This is an opportunity to lead, inspire, and support colleagues while making a real difference in the lives of students. You will be instrumental in shaping the science curriculum and delivering outstanding outcomes for all learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Model excellent teaching and evidence-informed practice
  • Support colleagues through coaching, mentoring, and professional dialogue
  • Contribute to a rigorous cycle of monitoring, including lesson visits and assessment moderation
  • Lead on a key portfolio area such as KS3/KS4, assessment, or STEM enrichment
  • Analyse pupil progress data to identify underachievement and implement effective interventions
  • Deputise for the Curriculum Leader when required
  • Foster a collaborative, ambitious, and supportive team culture
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement through leadership and innovation

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Outstanding teaching experience in Science with a proven track record of impact
  • Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the curriculum
  • Commitment to inclusive practice and raising achievement for all learners
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students and colleagues
  • Experience in leadership or a willingness to take on leadership responsibilities

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development or assessment
  • Experience with STEM enrichment or intervention strategies
  • Experience in pastoral care or form tutoring
  • Experience in coaching or mentoring colleagues
  • Experience with data analysis and pupil progress tracking
