The Opportunity:

As an Attendance Officer, you will play a critical role in improving attendance and engagement across the school. You will work closely with students, families, and external agencies to remove barriers to attendance and ensure every child can access a high-quality education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and support school attendance policies and procedures
  • Manage a caseload of attendance cases and prepare evidence for legal action
  • Track, analyse, and report on attendance data to inform interventions
  • Coordinate home visits and work with external agencies such as Police and Social Care
  • Support the monitoring and enforcement of attendance parenting orders
  • Deliver training on attendance regulations and best practice
  • Conduct meetings and interviews in line with safeguarding procedures
  • Liaise with staff to support learning for pupils facing attendance barriers
  • Promote equality, inclusion, and accessibility in service delivery

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children, young people, and families in education or community settings
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant legislation
  • Ability to manage complex cases and make sound decisions
  • Resilience, organisation, and the ability to work under pressure
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Preferred

  • Experience in attendance management or similar roles
  • Knowledge of attendance-related legislation and best practice
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting
  • Experience in delivering training or professional development
