The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Food and Health & Social Care to lead a dedicated team and deliver a high-quality curriculum at KS3 and KS4. This role offers the opportunity to shape teaching and learning and drive improvement in student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Food and Health & Social Care department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and deliver a curriculum aligned with subject intent and pedagogical research.
  • Support staff development and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Monitor and improve student progress and outcomes across KS3 and KS4.
  • Work closely with the faculty to ensure consistency and excellence in teaching.
  • Represent the department within the school and wider education community.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance cross-curricular links and student engagement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a similar role within a school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Food and Health & Social Care.
  • Experience in planning and delivering high-quality curricula at KS3 and KS4.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team of teachers.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading curriculum development and innovation.
  • Knowledge of AQA and OCR qualifications.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student wellbeing.
  • Strong understanding of assessment and progression strategies.
  • Experience with professional development and staff training.
