The Opportunity:

The Assistant Head (Destinations and Progress) will play a key role in shaping academic progress and post-18 outcomes for highly able pupils. This is a strategic leadership role that combines high-level planning with direct impact on student success and university admissions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading whole-school academic progress strategy and intervention
  • Overseeing UCAS, Oxbridge, Russell Group, and international university applications
  • Leading careers education and university preparation from Years 7–13
  • Providing strategic analysis and reporting on progress and destinations
  • Line-managing key staff involved in progress and destinations
  • Engaging alumni and parents in careers events and enrichment activities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong record of raising attainment and progress
  • Experience of university admissions and post-18 pathways
  • Strong analytical and strategic skills with confidence in data handling
  • Ability to lead and influence across the school community

Preferred

  • Experience in selective or high-attaining schools
  • Experience with Oxbridge or international admissions
  • Experience in reporting to Governors or senior leadership teams
