The Opportunity:

As Curriculum Leader English and Media, you will lead a dynamic department focused on delivering high-quality teaching and learning. You will play a key role in raising student achievement and fostering a passion for English and Media across all key stages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the English and Media curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of all students.
  • Collaborate with the Subject Leader for Media and Key Stage post-holders to drive departmental improvement and innovation.
  • Provide leadership and support to ensure consistent, high-quality teaching and learning across the department.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, using assessment and feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Promote a culture of professional development and share best practice within the department.
  • Contribute to the school’s wider educational goals and initiatives.
  • Ensure the curriculum reflects the school’s values and ethos, including its Catholic identity.
  • Support the school’s commitment to student engagement and enrichment through extracurricular activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a curriculum area within a secondary school.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English and Media, with the ability to teach across key stages.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
  • Experience in delivering high-quality teaching and learning, with a focus on student progress.
  • Commitment to collaboration and working as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and leadership.
  • Knowledge of assessment and feedback strategies.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or similar.
  • Experience in supporting the development of extracurricular and enrichment activities.
