The Opportunity:

As an English Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the learning experience of students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. You will be part of a dynamic and successful department that consistently delivers outstanding results and is focused on raising student achievement and aspiration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning across Key Stage 3, 4, and 5, ensuring students are engaged and challenged.
  • Develop and implement creative and effective lesson plans that support student progress and achievement.
  • Use ongoing assessment and feedback to monitor student performance and tailor support accordingly.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the English and Media department to enhance departmental outcomes and share best practice.
  • Support the school’s mission and values, including a strong commitment to the Catholic ethos and community engagement.
  • Encourage student participation in extracurricular activities and enrichment opportunities.
  • Contribute to the professional development of the department through continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Maintain strong communication with students, parents, and colleagues to support student success and wellbeing.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in English education.
  • Ability to teach across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for English.
  • Commitment to high-quality planning, teaching, and assessment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in working within a team and contributing to departmental improvement.

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to curriculum development.
  • Experience in supporting student wellbeing and pastoral care.
  • Experience in delivering CPD or training sessions.
  • Familiarity with inclusive education and differentiated teaching strategies.
