The Opportunity:

As a Junior Sous Chef, you will support the Chef Manager in managing the daily operations of the school's catering services. This role offers the chance to work in a vibrant, supportive environment and contribute to the overall success of a school that values staff development and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals for students and staff.
  • Manage stock control and ensure timely ordering of ingredients.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in the kitchen.
  • Deputise for the Chef Manager when required, ensuring continuity of service.
  • Support the wider school community by participating in events and enrichment activities.
  • Collaborate with the catering team to ensure efficient and effective food service.
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new recipes and menus.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working in a large, busy kitchen at Chef de Partie level or higher.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly within a school environment.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to food safety and hygiene standards.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of catering systems and software.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative when required.
  • Interest in contributing to the wider life of the school.
