The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Head of History to lead and inspire the History Department in a thriving Senior School. This role offers the chance to shape curriculum development and support students in their academic journey up to A Level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the History Department in the Senior School.
- Teach History up to and including A Level, with the ability to teach Politics at A Level being an advantage.
- Support and mentor junior staff within the department.
- Develop and implement a high-quality history curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the school to enhance cross-curricular learning and student outcomes.
- Represent the department in meetings and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
- Monitor student progress and provide targeted support where needed.
- Stay current with developments in the history education sector and incorporate innovative teaching methods.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with a strong background in History education.
- Experience teaching History at A Level and in the Senior School.
- Leadership experience within a school department.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience teaching Politics at A Level.
- Experience in curriculum development and academic leadership.
- Familiarity with independent school environments.
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
