Assistant Head of History job opportunity for a dynamic and experienced educator.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Head of History to lead and inspire the History Department in a thriving Senior School. This role offers the chance to shape curriculum development and support students in their academic journey up to A Level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the History Department in the Senior School.
  • Teach History up to and including A Level, with the ability to teach Politics at A Level being an advantage.
  • Support and mentor junior staff within the department.
  • Develop and implement a high-quality history curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to enhance cross-curricular learning and student outcomes.
  • Represent the department in meetings and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
  • Monitor student progress and provide targeted support where needed.
  • Stay current with developments in the history education sector and incorporate innovative teaching methods.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong background in History education.
  • Experience teaching History at A Level and in the Senior School.
  • Leadership experience within a school department.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching Politics at A Level.
  • Experience in curriculum development and academic leadership.
  • Familiarity with independent school environments.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
