The Opportunity:
As an Assistant Head of Mathematics, you will play a key role in leading and developing the mathematics department. This is an opportunity to influence curriculum delivery, support staff, and ensure that every student achieves their full potential in mathematics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the mathematics department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
- Support and develop teaching staff through mentorship, training, and professional development.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to raise achievement.
- Work closely with senior leadership to shape the strategic direction of the mathematics curriculum.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the department.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to teaching and learning.
- Represent the department at staff meetings and contribute to whole-school initiatives.
- Ensure that the department meets all Ofsted and quality standards requirements.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in mathematics education at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Proven leadership experience within a school setting, preferably in a senior or middle leadership role.
- Strong subject knowledge and the ability to teach across all key stages.
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team.
- Familiarity with the Challenge Academy Trust and its values.
- Experience in managing and supporting staff development.
- Knowledge of innovative teaching methods and technologies.
