The Opportunity:

We are seeking an Assistant Head of Maths to join our dedicated leadership team and contribute to the continued success of our Maths department. This is an opportunity to lead in Key Stage 3 or 4 and play a key role in shaping the future of maths education at the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the development of Key Stage 3 or 4 maths curriculum and teaching strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the department to ensure continued improvement and high standards.
  • Work closely with the Head of Maths to implement school-wide educational goals and initiatives.
  • Provide professional development and mentorship for maths staff across the school.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, collaboration, and high expectations within the department.
  • Ensure that all students receive a high-quality, engaging, and challenging maths education.
  • Collaborate with other subject leaders to support whole-school improvement and strategic priorities.
  • Represent the maths department in meetings, inspections, and external events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience within a maths department, ideally in a senior role.
  • Strong knowledge of maths curriculum, teaching methods, and assessment strategies.
  • Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes and attainment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Commitment to the school’s core values of Respect, Commitment, and Trust.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading Key Stage 3 or 4 maths departments.
  • Familiarity with the Co-op Academies Trust and its values and principles.
  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation in maths education.
  • Strong track record in professional development and staff training.
