The Opportunity:
As the Head of Religious Studies, Citizenship and Health & Social Care, you will lead the development of a dynamic and inclusive curriculum that supports student achievement and personal growth. This role offers the chance to shape educational outcomes and collaborate with a dedicated team of educators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Religious Studies, Citizenship and Health & Social Care curriculum to ensure it meets the highest standards.
- Develop and implement teaching strategies that promote student engagement, critical thinking, and personal development.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the school to integrate cross-curricular themes and values.
- Support and mentor teaching staff to enhance pedagogical practice and student outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
- Work closely with the pastoral team to ensure a consistent and supportive approach to student well-being.
- Promote the school’s values and ethos through teaching, leadership, and professional behavior.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives and contribute to the continuous improvement of the institution.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge in Religious Studies, Citizenship and Health & Social Care.
- Proven leadership experience in a similar role within a secondary school setting.
- Strong understanding of curriculum development and assessment practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to the values of the Co-op Group and the school’s mission.
- Experience in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Preferred
- Experience in leading curriculum innovation and professional development.
- Familiarity with safeguarding and PSHE education.
- Background in working with diverse student populations.
- Experience in extra-curricular or pastoral leadership roles.
