The Opportunity:

As the Head of Religious Studies, Citizenship and Health & Social Care, you will lead the development of a dynamic and inclusive curriculum that supports student achievement and personal growth. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Religious Studies, Citizenship and Health & Social Care curriculum to ensure it meets the highest standards.
  • Develop and implement teaching strategies that promote student engagement, critical thinking, and personal development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to integrate cross-curricular themes and values.
  • Support and mentor teaching staff to enhance pedagogical practice and student outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Work closely with the pastoral team to ensure a consistent and supportive approach to student well-being.
  • Promote the school’s values and ethos through teaching, leadership, and professional behavior.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives and contribute to the continuous improvement of the institution.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge in Religious Studies, Citizenship and Health & Social Care.
  • Proven leadership experience in a similar role within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum development and assessment practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the values of the Co-op Group and the school’s mission.
  • Experience in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading curriculum innovation and professional development.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding and PSHE education.
  • Background in working with diverse student populations.
