The Opportunity:
As Assistant Head of Staff Development, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the professional growth of teaching staff and embedding a culture of continuous learning. This is an opportunity to influence and inspire a dedicated team, driving the school’s vision of outstanding education and research-led practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Senior School teaching staff Professional Development programme
- Articulate and embed the school’s teaching and learning philosophy
- Support and champion a culture of innovation, research-led practice, and lifelong learning
- Collaborate closely with the Deputy Head Academic to ensure alignment with school priorities
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages staff engagement and professional growth
- Promote and model the school’s values, including diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism
- Work with colleagues to enhance teaching quality and student outcomes across all key stages
- Ensure the school’s commitment to student well-being and enrichment is reflected in staff development initiatives
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in education, preferably in a senior leadership role
- Demonstrated expertise in staff development, training, and professional learning
- Strong understanding of current educational research and pedagogical approaches
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and student well-being
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across different departments
Preferred
- Experience in leading large-scale staff development initiatives
- Background in a UK independent school setting
- Knowledge of curriculum development and assessment strategies
- Experience with educational leadership frameworks and school improvement strategies
- Familiarity with teacher appraisal and performance management systems
