The Opportunity:

As Director of Business Development, you will lead the school's long-term commercial strategy, driving sustainable non-fee income through enterprise activities and international partnerships. This role is pivotal in supporting the school’s mission while delivering financial resilience and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan to grow sustainable non-fee income across enterprise activities.
  • Manage and expand commercial relationships, including partnerships with Education in Motion and international collaborators.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align commercial goals with the school’s educational mission.
  • Oversee the performance of sports facilities, events, lettings, retail, and other enterprise operations.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities for expansion and revenue generation.
  • Ensure the school’s brand is safeguarded and enhanced globally through commercial activities.
  • Support the school’s bursary programme and capital investment initiatives.
  • Engage effectively with stakeholders across the school community and external partners.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven track record in business development and revenue growth in a complex environment.
  • Experience in managing large-scale commercial operations and partnerships.
  • Strong leadership and strategic planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to align business goals with organisational values.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of educational sector operations and commercial strategies.

Preferred

  • Experience in the independent school sector or similar educational institutions.
  • Familiarity with international partnerships and global brand management.
  • Background in managing large-scale events or facility operations.
  • Strong understanding of financial planning and budget management.
