The Opportunity:
As an Assistant Headteacher - Academics & Progress, you will play a vital role in shaping the academic direction of the school. You will lead initiatives that drive excellence in teaching, learning, and pupil progress, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement and high standards across all stages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership for whole-school academic standards and pupil progress
- Lead the development and implementation of teaching, learning, and assessment strategies
- Monitor and evaluate pupil performance using robust data analysis to inform improvement
- Support Heads of Department and teaching staff to drive excellence in classroom practice
- Oversee curriculum design, coherence, and progression across key stages
- Lead initiatives to close gaps and ensure all pupils achieve their full potential
- Contribute to staff development, coaching, and performance management
- Play an active role in whole-school leadership and strategic planning
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven success in leading teaching, learning, and academic progress
- A strong understanding of curriculum design, assessment, and data-informed improvement
- The ability to inspire, challenge, and support colleagues to deliver outstanding teaching
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills
- A strategic mindset combined with a hands-on, collaborative leadership style
- A commitment to academic excellence balanced with pupil wellbeing
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Preferred
- Experience in a senior leadership role within a school setting
- Experience with data-driven decision making and performance management
- Experience in curriculum development and innovation
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary up to £43,635, plus a management allowance of £8,500-£10,000
