The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Headteacher – Pastoral, you will play a vital role in shaping the emotional and social growth of students. This leadership position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on the school community through strategic pastoral care and behaviour management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership for all aspects of pastoral care, wellbeing, behaviour, and safeguarding
• Develop and embed a strong, consistent pastoral culture across the school
• Lead, mentor, and support Heads of Year, Form Tutors, and pastoral staff
• Work closely with families, staff, and external agencies to support pupil welfare
• Oversee attendance, behaviour, and inclusion strategies
• Contribute to staff training and professional development in pastoral and safeguarding matters
• Play a full role in the wider leadership and life of the school

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Proven experience in a senior pastoral leadership role
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, pastoral systems, and behaviour management
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• The ability to lead with empathy, consistency, and authority

• Up to £43,635 salary plus £8,500 management allowance
