The Opportunity:

As Assistant Headteacher – Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the school’s safeguarding policies are robust, effective, and at the heart of all operations. This is an opportunity to lead, innovate and make a real difference in the lives of students and the wider school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of safeguarding and child protection across the school.
  • Champion a culture of safeguarding that prioritises the well-being and safety of all students.
  • Ensure compliance with all safeguarding legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and internal teams to support vulnerable students.
  • Develop and deliver safeguarding training to staff, students and parents.
  • Monitor and evaluate safeguarding practices to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Support the Senior Leadership Team in driving school improvement and raising standards.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the school and the Trust.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with proven experience in a senior leadership role.
  • Experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, including NPQSL or NPQH.

Preferred

  • Experience in a Trust or multi-academy setting.
  • Experience of leading school improvement initiatives.
  • Experience of working with students with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
  • Experience of managing large-scale school projects or expansions.
