The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Headteacher EYFS, you will play a key role in driving excellence in teaching and learning across the Early Years Foundation Stage. This is a strategic leadership position focused on developing pedagogy, supporting staff, and ensuring outstanding outcomes for all learners. The role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young children's education and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop high-quality teaching and learning practices across the EYFS phase.
  • Create, implement, and monitor policies related to teaching and learning, SEND, EAL, and PP.
  • Deliver professional development sessions to support staff in improving their teaching practice.
  • Conduct systematic lesson observations to monitor and improve the quality of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement individual pupil plans and interventions for SEND, PP, and EAL students.
  • Coordinate with external agencies and stakeholders to support the needs of all pupils.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and monitoring of pupil progress, particularly for those with additional needs.
  • Support staff through professional development and external agency resources to meet the diverse needs of students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading and developing teaching and learning strategies in the EYFS phase.
  • Strong knowledge of effective pedagogy and curriculum design for early years education.
  • Experience in implementing effective change with measurable impact on staff development and student outcomes.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team, with excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • SENCO accreditation or experience in supporting students with special educational needs.
  • Experience in developing and managing policies related to inclusion, SEND, EAL, and PP.
  • Experience in delivering staff training and professional development sessions.
  • Familiarity with leadership programmes such as NPQML, NPQSL, NPQH, or PiXL Leadership Programme.
