The Opportunity:

As the Assistant Headteacher of Inclusion, you will lead and shape a world-class inclusion strategy that supports all pupils, from Reception to Key Stage 4. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student outcomes and to drive forward the school’s vision of inclusive excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and embed a comprehensive inclusion strategy that spans all phases of education.
  • Champion inclusive practice within the Senior Leadership Team and across the school.
  • Represent the school in local inclusion networks and collaborate with external agencies to support vulnerable pupils.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements for SEND, safeguarding, and equalities legislation.
  • Build and develop a committed, skilled inclusion team across primary and secondary phases.
  • Provide expert CPD on inclusive pedagogy and adaptive teaching for staff.
  • Monitor the academic progress, attendance, and behaviour of pupils on the SEND register and other vulnerable cohorts.
  • Implement targeted, evidence-based interventions to support pupil outcomes.
  • Oversee the transition of vulnerable pupils between key stages, particularly from primary to secondary.
  • Implement an academy-wide literacy programme to support all pupils.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading inclusion strategies within an educational setting.
  • Strong leadership and management experience, preferably within a school or academy.
  • In-depth knowledge of SEND, safeguarding, and equalities legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to promoting pupil welfare and well-being.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and inspire others.

Preferred

  • Experience in an all-through academy setting.
  • Experience with system leadership and cross-phase collaboration.
  • Experience in developing and delivering professional development for staff.
  • Experience in working with external agencies and multi-agency partnerships.
