The Opportunity:

As the Head of Junior School, you will lead and inspire a team to deliver an exceptional educational experience, ensuring academic and pastoral excellence for all pupils. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of a dynamic and growing institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Junior School Management Team (JSMT) to drive continuous improvement in academic and pastoral standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Junior School, Deputy Heads, and Pastoral Leadership Team to create a culture of ambition and high expectations.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a curriculum that supports the school’s vision and educational goals.
  • Ensure the well-being and personal development of all pupils through effective pastoral care and support systems.
  • Monitor and evaluate academic performance, identifying areas for growth and implementing targeted strategies for improvement.
  • Promote and uphold the school’s values of diversity, equality, and inclusion across all aspects of school life.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, staff, and the wider community to support the school’s mission and vision.
  • Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the development of the school’s long-term goals and initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting, preferably at a senior level.
  • Strong track record in academic and pastoral leadership, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • In-depth knowledge of curriculum development and delivery in a junior school environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, with experience in child protection procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a large and diverse team within a school or educational institution.
  • Familiarity with the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) and experience in achieving high inspection ratings.
  • Knowledge of innovative teaching and learning practices, including the use of technology in education.
  • Experience in developing and implementing school-wide policies and initiatives related to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
