The Opportunity:
The Assistant Headteacher Inclusion will provide strategic leadership for inclusion, ensuring that all pupils, particularly those who are disadvantaged, with SEND, or at risk of underachievement, thrive both academically and personally. This is a pivotal role in shaping a school culture that values equity, excellence, and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership for inclusion, ensuring that all pupils, particularly disadvantaged pupils, pupils with SEND, vulnerable learners, and those at risk of underachievement, thrive both academically and personally.
- Ensure that the school’s inclusive culture pervades the school, including through the curriculum entitlement and adaptive teaching practice.
- Drive improvements through the collation and analysis of pupil data to support informed decision-making.
- Influence and inspire others through excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Challenge and support both staff and students to achieve great outcomes.
- Build strong professional relationships with students and colleagues to motivate and engage them in learning and personal development.
- Uphold agreed standards and hold colleagues to account for their performance and conduct.
- Promote and model personal resilience and the values the school wishes to instil in young people.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven track record in learning and innovating change, particularly experience in driving improvements through the collation and analysis of pupil data.
- Strong leadership and management skills, able to challenge and support both staff and students to great achievement.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of influencing and inspiring others.
- Experience of successfully working with young people from similar demographics.
- Understanding of the context of the school community and the importance of inclusion in education.
- Commitment to student-centered decision-making and a passion for quality of learning and pastoral care.
Preferred
- Experience in driving improvements through data analysis.
- Experience with pastoral care and inclusion strategies.
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or similar.
- Experience in leadership pathways and mentoring programs.
- Experience in equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
