The Opportunity:
As the Director of STEM (Science Specialism), you will lead the development and delivery of a dynamic STEM programme across the school. This role is ideal for a passionate and visionary leader who wants to inspire a love of science and technology in students from early years through to secondary education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and promote STEM across the school, working closely with the Science department and other faculties.
- Develop and implement a curriculum that inspires a love of science from Year 7 through to Year 11.
- Design and manage an academy-wide STEM programme that supports student engagement and achievement.
- Plan and lead educational visits to enhance student learning and experience in STEM fields.
- Communicate effectively with parents and the wider community about STEM opportunities and initiatives.
- Support the CEAIG officer in keeping students informed about developments in the STEM field.
- Contribute to the whole school development plan with a focus on improving outcomes in STEM subjects.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in leading and managing a STEM programme within an educational setting.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with parents and students.
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery across key stages.
- A commitment to inclusion and the ability to work in a diverse and supportive environment.
Preferred
- Experience in primary education or transition programmes.
- Knowledge of current trends and developments in STEM education.
- Experience in leading or contributing to whole school improvement strategies.
- Familiarity with CPD and leadership development programmes.
